Problem 1: You don’t see Your actual position
Imagine my client’s shock when she learned that people who claimed they couldn’t afford her services signed on with another company at twice the price.
She felt hurt, confused and betrayed.
In reality, she wasn’t clear on her position.
Unbeknownst to her, she was viewed by many in her audience as a great go to brand for those just starting out, but lacking the finesse and expertise to launch bigger success.
Awareness of how you’re viewed symbolically in the minds of your audience is essential to maintaining or upleveling a power dynamic. Someone else who wasn’t clear on her position in the minds of many key voters?

Hillary believed herself to be in one position, only to discover that she wasn’t there at all.
This cost her the position she’s wanted for decades: the presidency.
Problem 2: You’re terrified to admit you want more
In the “look at me, I have perfect self esteem and confdence” social media universe, we often fail to remember that no one is 100% confident, AND that it's often tough (even for really successful people) to ask for help.
If you’re trying to step into a bigger position - one with more visibility and influence- you’re going to confront hidden beliefs or fears about what that might mean.
Most often I hear:
• “What if my husband/boyfriend leaves me or it just negatively impacts my relationship?”
• “What if I let my ambition show? Won’t I get attacked or face disapproval?”
• “I’ll feel guilty if I ask for more support or prioritize my own care.”

If you’re succeeding as an actor/writer/producer/holistic leader/CEO/founder or tech guru…guess what, you’re visible. And that means that whatever you might have been sweeping under the rug, avoiding, or pretending wasn’t a factor, shows up to be resolved.
This includes talents and gifts you haven’t owned or honed, wounds ready to be healed, the paralysis of perfectionism, bad habits, and, of course, unconscious core beliefs that have been preventing you from stepping into the spotlight.
I have one word for you: UBER.

Founder Travis Kalanick recently stepped down from the position of CEO. His bad boy "take no prisoners" approach attracted negative scrutiny- in fact, it was so embedded in the corporate culture that the company's reputation suffered.
As Uber grew, so did Travis’ personal visibility. The influence of his personality on Uber's practices and policies also became widely visible.
I’m sure he thought he was invincible…but he wasn’t- and no one is.
Whether you’ve been covering up something you consider shadowy and negative or disowning your glorious genius, as you expand and “step up,” integration is essential.
